Earlier this month, the Kidstock! SUMMERSTAGE program was featured on WBZ / CBS’s Spotlight, fulfilling a grandmother’s dream and sharing the impact of our approach to performing arts education. Did you catch it? Watch the feature below and scroll down for a fun story about this coverage.
So how did this feature fulfill a grandmother’s dream? Here’s the story, direct from our creative director, Brian Milton:
“When I started Kidstock! in 1992, my grandmother Dora wrote a letter (yes, a real letter) to Joyce Kulhawick, who was the arts and entertainment anchor at WBZ-TV at the time, suggesting she do a feature on her grandson who had just opened his own theater school. Joyce actually wrote back to my grandmother thanking her for her suggestion and acknowledging how proud she must be of me, but ultimately that this was not a story she would be able cover. This feature this summer is the culmination of my grandmother’s efforts! It took them 32 years to get to the story!”
We’re so grateful to the team at WBZ for visiting Kidstock! this summer and honored to see all our students featured in this spotlight. We can’t wait to see what these young actors do next!
