General Information & Policies
Attendance Policy
Students registered for classes, summer programs, vacation days, or performances are expected to attend all dates. If a student needs to miss a class due to illness or another emergency, please contact our office immediately at 781-729-5543 or [email protected] to notify your teacher.
We cannot guarantee make-ups for missed classes and there are no refunds for a missed class once a session begins.
Student Behavior
All students are asked to review the Kidstock Kode of Konduct before participating in a class, performance, or program.
What to Wear
Comfortable clothes and shoes that allow for freedom of movement are best for most Kidstock! classes and programs. If your student is in a performance, you will receive details of what to wear for your base costume from your director and educators. Depending on the weather, we recommend bringing a pair of sneakers if you wear boots to Kidstock!
Cancellations & Severe Weather
In the case of severe weather, Kidstock! will notify families by email of any cancellations. We will post same day weather changes on our website as well.
Nut Free Facility
We are a NUT FREE zone – please read labels carefully when sending food and label any nut free spread that looks like peanut butter or any home baked good or hand packed item that looks questionable so we know it is nut free.
Please do not send in any food that has a label that says CONTAINS NUTS. Manufactured in a facility or on equipment is acceptable.
Helpful tips:
- Pesto usually contains pine nuts
- Nutella contains hazelnuts
Parking
There is ample off-street parking available on our campus. Please refer to our Contact page for specific directions.
Summer Policies
Refund Policy
If you can no longer attend your summer program, you have two options: Withdraw or Transfer.
- Withdraw before June 1: Receive a 100% Refund
- Withdraw after June 1: Receive a 50% Refund
Please note, the $25 Summer Family Registration Fee is nonrefundable. All withdrawals and refund requests must be submitted in writing by email to [email protected]. Withdrawals must be submitted by NOON on the Friday before your summer week for the refund policy to apply. There are no refunds or partial credits for missed days for any reason.
If you don’t want to withdraw, you can transfer to another week (availability depending). There is never a penalty for transferring your registered week to another available week if your schedule changes. Please contact us immediately by email if you would like to transfer at [email protected].
Arrival & Dismissal
Our full day program for all ages runs from 9 AM–4:30 PM. Every program has an assigned arrival/dismissal location with a 30 minute window. Late arrivals and early dismissals go to the office.
- Arrival is from 8:45–9:15 AM
- Dismissal is from 4:15–4:45 PM
All communication about late arrivals, early dismissals, and absences must come from a parent. We will not accept messages from students.
Early dismissal is respectfully discouraged. Our summer curriculum is carefully planned and often cumulative. Leaving early can result in students not having the ability to fully prepare for the program’s final presentation, learn songs and dances, rehearse, or finish art projects. We ask that all families please refrain form scheduling other activities or medical appointments during your Kidstock! summer program.
If you absolutely must request an early dismissal, please notify our office in advance and confirm on the morning of by email to [email protected]. Students and parents should go to the office for early dismissal. We are unable to offer early dismissals after 4:00 PM.
Attendance & Absences
Our program requests that you attend all day, every day barring any unforeseen illness – please plan accordingly so you do not arrive late or need to leave early.
Our Friday Presentations rely on the consistent attendance of everyone to successfully build the stage stories we want to share. We ask that, whenever possible, you please prioritize the Kidstock! experience you have registered your child for this week over other classes, appointments or social events that can be rescheduled.
Please communicate by email or phone directly with the office, not any of our teaching staff, about absences, issues or conflicts.
If you know in advance of any conflicts in your family’s schedule that will require your child to arrive late, leave early or be absent, please take the time to email us so we can adjust our plan as best as possible to be inclusive of your child.
What to Bring / What Not to Bring
Students should bring both a backpack and a water bottle labeled with their name. See below for more information on snacks and lunch. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes if there is a chance of a bathroom accident.
Students are discouraged from bringing valuables and toys that will become a distraction. Cell phones are not allowed to be on and used during the program day.
We are together for the day to explore theater and interact with each other. Kidstock! is a “technology free space” from 9 AM–4:30 PM.
Snacks & Lunch
Reminder: Kidstock! is a NUT FREE zone.
SNACKS:
- All students should pack a nut free morning snack.
- Please pack a second nut free snack if your child is staying for extended day.
LUNCH:
- Students should bring a nut free lunch.
Medications
Students with inhalers or epi pens must hand these to the office. Any other medication must also be handed to the office with label and dosage instructions.
Performance Program Policies
Every Cast Member, and their families, are asked to make a commitment to the production that prioritizes being in attendance at all rehearsals.
- Preparing to stage a show requires everyone in the cast to work collaboratively on the goal, and no one is able to accomplish this important work on their own.
- Good rehearsal behavior – attitude, preparedness, respect, patience, focus – are all expectations of every cast member.
- We accept all conflicts shared in advance of casting, but then expect full attendance.
- Missing rehearsal does not help your cast mates, or you, with developing the timing that only comes from attendance at rehearsal, even with the promise to “study your lines” at home.
- Attendance means arriving on time and not leaving early.
- Unexpected conflicts that arise throughout the rehearsal period for the one day we rehearse will have to be told “no” – birthday parties, family gatherings, sports practices, event tickets, vacation travel – cast members and their families must be willing to make the KCT Company commitment a priority.
- Any absence due to illness may need to be made up before the next rehearsal on either Friday afternoon between 3:30-6:00 or Saturday morning between 9:30-11:30. We will advise you of this need AFTER the missed rehearsal.
- Deadlines for being off book with lines memorized are non-negotiable and parts will be recast if necessary.
- The required commitments of joining a KCT Company is a CHOICE for students and their families – we are making a commitment to having rehearsal once a week, but that requires everyone’s full participation once a week. We have a wide variety of experiences that offer a much less stringent level of participation and encourage families to consider carefully how to make this commitment to a KCT performance a positive experience for their child.
