Class: PlayMakers

Why memorize someone else’s words when you can create your own? PlayMakers is an innovative class for aspiring actors, playwrights, and storytellers in Grades 7–12 who are ready to take center stage—not just as performers, but as creators. Each session, students will devise, develop, and write the original shows, then rehearse and perform. The spotlight shines on creative ownership, empowering young artists to bring their own characters, dialogue, and scenes to life.

Every session of PlayMakers will explore a new presentational theater style, from comedic sketch to documentary drama, from ensemble-driven vignettes to stylized storytelling. Guided by professional teaching artists, participants learn how to shape their ideas into scripts, collaborate as an ensemble, and bring their vision to life onstage.

Short Plays Inspired by Masterpieces

Step into the frame—literally. Iconic works of art become springboards for theatrical invention as students bring still images to life, giving voice and story to what’s been frozen in time.

A theatrical puzzle with no fourth wall! Actors and audience collaborate as the story unfolds in real time, with mystery, mischief, and meaningful choices determining how the drama ends.
